November 25, 2022 - Flying the Hudson River Corridor with Tony

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and we had company.  My sister, her husband Tony and her son Max were staying with us.  Today I asked Tony if he wanted to go see New York City from the air.  He said sure!

Here we are on the Essex Skypark ramp.  Brother-in-law Tony is strapped in and ready to go.  The weather was a little overcasty and raining in the morning but the afternoon cleared up nicely.

Merging with the Jersey Shore, north of Atlantic City.

Passing by Monmouth Park horse-racing track.

Entering Upper Bay, always a thrilling sight.

Looking east out over Brooklyn, New York.

Checking out The Battery (lower tip of Manhatten Island).  At right is the famous Brooklyn Bridge, with the Manhatten Bridge behind it.

We flew up the Hudson River, then made a 180-degree turn at the Alpine Towers.

Now we are headed southbound down the Hudson River at 900 feet.

Looking out over Brooklyn again.

We flew down the Jersey Shore at 500 feet.  This is a big sand bar off the beachshore in a non-developed area north of Atlantic City.

More Jersey Shore.

South of Atlantic City we turned west and headed for home.  There was a broken layer above us which blocked the late afternoon sun and made for some beautiful scenes.

Tony enjoying the view.

Picture of the week!
